Lake St. Clair Perch Ice Fishing Report = Dinks

The ice fishing out from Gino’s and North has been good…as long as you don’t mind small perch. Dinks, Dinks, and more Dinks. That’s been the story over the last week. Catching fish on just about anything from minnows on jigs, wax worms, wigglers, you name it. Schools of small fish are in control. If you want some action, you can have a good time. If you’re looking for dinner, well that could be a bit tougher…maybe an appetizer. The ice has been good and hopefully the big ones will come back in. We’ll let you know when they do.

Big Slow Down on Ice Fishing St. Clair

Well we new it was bound to happen after all of the great ice fishing that’s been going on especially over by Gino’s. With the cold front coming through the fish have just shut right down. The cold weather should help improve the ice conditions anyway. Ice jammed up in St. Clair River for the last 4 days preventing Harsens Island ferry from running. You can still head out, but don’t expect a lot of bites for the next few days. Sorry for the crappy report.

Ice Fishing Report for The Weekend – Perch & Panfish

The perch are still at Gino’s and south.  Jigs with minnows and jigs with waxworms are the ticket.  7-10 feet of water is the place to be.  From the reports we’ve been getting, late morning to early afternoon have been the best times to catch the fish.  These fish seem to school by size, so if you’re catching dinks you may want to move.

We’ve also  been getting reports of some panfish being caught north of Gino’s towards Metro.  Use the same gear as above.  It seems the schools are more tightly concentrated and it may take a few holes to get into them.  Received a few reports of panfish coming from the canals in that area, but nothing consistent.

Warmer weather and an unblocked St. Clair River may make the ice a bit more unstable this weekend, so be careful.  Good luck fishermen.

Perch Going Crazy at Gino’s – Ice Fishing Report

Getting reports of the perch hitting anything and everything out from Gino’s Surf.  Get to 7-10 feet of water drill your hole and have fun.  Things seem to really heat up around mid-morning.  I’ve heard reports of perch from 7-11 inches with a few jumbos coming on teardrops with spikes and jigs with minnows, but I’d try whatever you have.  Good luck and be safe on the ice.

Perch Being Caught At Gino’s

We’ve received several reports of perch being caught in 6-7 feet of water off of Gino’s and Harbor Club area. Try minnows on jigs. Some small fish to weed through, but there are some decent sized fish out there too. Good Luck.

Ice Fishing at Metro Beach and Anchor Bay

We’ve been getting reports of some bluegills and perch being caught by “The Raft” in Fair Haven. Most perch have been smaller, so you’ll need to weed through them a bit.  Watch the ice as reports of some large chunks breaking off may send you for a ride.  Most fish coming on wax worms and teardrops in yellow or orange.  I was out at Metro Beach in the marsh area and didn’t see anything caught.  A few guys fishing at the day sail area also.  Marsh ice is good, 3-4″.  Watch the day sail area as the ice isn’t as thick and some crazy weather coming.  Good Luck Fishermen.
