Walleye Report
Guys continue to do well out along the Shipping channel AKA the Ditch. Also the Dumping grounds have been good has well. Reports from the few heading to Canadian waters have been that the bite is just as good if not a little better at time with boat limits coming in a matter of only a few hours.
The lake anglers are doing best trolling crawler harness behind inline sinkers 20 to 40 feet back off the boards. There has been a few days were bottom bouncers took fish better. Colors have been all over the map here in the store. Seems everyone has there favorite. The most popular ones have been wonder breads, copper, and perch patterns both in metal blades and ghost blades. Also there has been a hand full of guys that have begun playing around Jigging along the ditch and they are having success as well. A 1/4 to 5/8oz jig with some smaller plastics seems to be working the best.
The guys working both rivers and the channel areas are also doing well. There is fair number of guys who are still jigging in the St. Clair and Detroit river and doing well. The upper River and the Trenton channel area seem to be where guys Jigging on the Detroit River. The guys on the St. Clair river seem to focus on the areas around Marine City and Marysville.
The guys working the lower St. Clair and the Channels are dragging crawler harness on a bottom bouncer. Some of the most popular colors for these areas I am hear are Chartreuse and white, Copper and Gold.
Expect a change to the areas guys are finding walleye if this cooling trend hold in the area.
Walleye Fishing Report
Going nuts is what I am hearing right now.I have seen guys catching them off the rocks at metro(this past Sunday) reports are streaming in from the ditch and the channels. Guys are even still punning them jigging up river from the Algonac State park.
The guys fishing the ditch are finding there best success trolling harness behind in-line boards on bottom bouncer and in-line weights. The guys running the inline weights are targeting the upper part of the water column still. They have been running 1oz in-line weight ahead of the harness 10 to 15 ft back behind the board. The guys that are finding success with bottom bouncers are working the wall on the ditch. There hasn’t been just one hot color but there does seem to be a pattern to what guys are running. The only colors you need to know are Copper, Gold, White, Purple, Greens, and Blues in any mixture or combo of those colors.
The guys hitting up the channels are pretty much all running bottom bouncers and harness now with a few still jigging plastics.Further up river Candy plastic, and Fin-S fish are the weapon of choice from the guys giving me reports from up that way.
