Muskie Fishing Report
The Guys who are vertical jigging the Rivers and Channels are doing good. Also do be afraid to try jigging the Shipping channel in the middle of the lake . Bondy Bait’s and Super D’s are getting the nod from many that are jigging right now. With the cooling trend we are seeing right now and if it holds casting for Muskie should get pretty good possible in the coming weeks. The trollers are running more and more body baits and are starting to move away from the in-lines some. But both are productive right now. In body baits try running baits in the 7 inch range right now. As the waters cool the Muskie should start favoring larger food choice.
Smallmouth Fishing Report
Tubes in Purple Spring Goby and Green Myst has been working well. Guys are also really liking the reaction they are getting from the Smallies when they add a little Goby Juice or crawfish scent from Juiced Up. A drop-shot rig has also been productive has well X-Zone Slammer and Erie Darters are still everyones go too baits.
The live bait guys have been doing well with what ever large minnows they can get. Right now it sounds like all anyone is getting on the lake is Golden Shiners. The avg size of what we have been getting has gone up to more around the 4inch size.
Perch Fishing Report
The Ditch is still the go to area for many. Focus on the area between the fire cracker and the St. Clair light, Mainly can 27 and 25 area. Most are finding fish up on the flat in 16 fow of water. But don’t over look the 23 to 18 fow on the channel wall. If the wind is right this can be a very productive area for everything.
Guys are using Drop-shot rigs which are also know as tight-line rigs or bedazzlers as a few old timers are calling them now:16suspect. Blaze Orange was hot for me over the weekend, but Red and Chartreuse with black flake beads also produced very well for some of my customers.
