Shore Fishing – Lake St. Clair Fishing Report

Well there have been some guys fishing off the shore and getting some perch and sunfish.  Guys have been catching some perch off the pier by the Coast Guard station behind Blossom Heath.  They have been using perch rigs with minnows, but have been catching a lot of small fish.  There have also been some reports coming from the point off of Metro each, but the fish have also been on the small size there as well.  The colder temps have made some ice in the Metro back basin and some guys have been venturing out on it.  Mostly reports of small sunfish coming from that area.  Unfortunately not a great report, but there are some fish being caught.  There are a couple docks in at the Crocker launch and a few guys have been getting boats out.  Reports have been scattered on the perch with some guys heading up to Gino’s and taking a few fish.  Good luck and be safe.

Lake St. Clair Fishing Report – Ice Is Gone

As most of you have noticed the ice is gone. Talk about a short ice fishing season. Who knows if we’ll get ice for the rest of winter. Oh well, let hit the soft water. I have been hearing reports of fisherman jigging the Detroit River already. I also have got reports that guys are catching walleye from that same Detroit River. The problem many are having is finding a place to launch their boats. The launch at Crocker is open, but as of a few days ago the docks were not in. This is a long ride down to the Detroit River. I’ve made it and it’s a miserably cold ride.

Perch off-shore. I’ve heard of some shore fishermen catching perch on perch rigs, but the fish have been small. Try anywhere you can find open water. Guys have been using minnows.

That’s it for now. What a crazy winter. Be careful out there fishermen

Lots of Perch – Lake St. Clair Ice FIshing Report

Well, the weather has been pretty crazy lately with the rain and wind, but the ice has still stuck around.  We have been getting reports of lots of perch being taken all over the lake.

Gino’s & Crocker – Lots of perch. most using minnows and teardrops to get the bigger perch.  Guys also using spikes or waxworms, but getting smaller fish.  Either way you’re probably going to have to weed through the small fish.  What the hell though, at least you’re catching fish.

Selfridge – Same as above at Selfridge. Stop in to Anglers Point Marina and get the latest updates on the fishing. They’ve got all the bait you need. You’re almost guaranteed fish and if you find the schools of bigger fish, stay there.

Mile Roads – Anywhere you can get out on good ice you should be able to catch fish.  Also getting reports of guys taking some nice gills around docks. Make sure you don’t trespass however. Minnows have been the best for the perch and mixed reports on gills as some have come on minnows and some on waxworms.

Really anywhere you go you should find fish, but make sure you have good ice. Good luck and be safe!
