Ice Fishing Report

Gino’s/L’Anse Creuse Bay: Fishing has been steady for most of our diehard customers. Most people are sticking the canals and marinas. Yesterday a few people did work out a little ways into the lake in the area. USE EXTREME CATION the ice thickness is not consist right now out there.

Spillway:A few guys have gotten out on to the spillway, fishing has been spotty. Most have not checked other areas in the spillway yet. They all seem to be holding up together in on area.USE EXTREME CATION the ice thickness is not consist right now.

Metro: Some are reporting very steady action on perch and gills but sorting has been needed. There also seems to be a peak hour early and late that will produce more large fish in this area.

Selfridge:No solid info has come in.

Fair Haven /Bouvier Bay: I have gotten some very good reports of guys doing well on Gills and Perch. Guys have started to work there way out onto the lake in areas. Ice Thickness isn’t consist so use a spud and take your time.USE EXTREME CATION the ice thickness is not consist right now.

Perch Fishing Report – Lake St. Clair

We’ve been getting some good reports of perch being caught around the 27 Can in the shipping channel.  We also had some reports of decent perch being caught around the St. Clair light as well. Use minnows as the fish should be very active this coming weekend with all of the fronts that have come through during the week.

The second area to try would be in 10-12 feet of water out from Gino’s.  Minnows are the ticket for catching the bigger perch as there are some smaller ones out there that can be easily caught on worms.

Lake St. Clair Fishing Report – All Species

Walleye: Continue to be fair to great depending to who you talk. I have had a few old timers state this is the best walleye fishing they have had in about 20 years.

Anglers are finding success in 16 feet of water out until the international line near the shipping channels. Buoy 27 and 25 areas have been good not he north end of the shipping channel and down around the St. Clair light and Dumping grounds on the south side of the channel. I have had more then a few people tell me this week that you can use any color you want has long has it has a little bit of Pink on it.

Anglers are using many ways of getting after them, Bottome bouncer, Inline weight and the pencil weight on a dropper are the most popular methods.

Perch: The bite has gotten a little tougher over the last week. There is still plenty of fish to be had, angler are having to look a little hard right now but once they are found there has been some good catches of 15 to 20 fish per person going home with plenty of action from 7 inch fish and other types like White bass and Smallmouth.

Bass: They are catching just about anyway you can think of right now. Drop-shotting, dragging tubes, throwing jerk bait, throwing spinnerbaits when the wind is blowing also burning deep driving cranks over deep water has been working. The swim bait bite is also starting to get really hot for some out on the lake. Don’t be afraid to check up in the shallows right now there is some fish in there right now. Most guys are fishing 12 to 16 feet or in the river and channels.

Spillway: Has bee hot and cold for cats this past week. One day they are there and in good numbers and then the next just rock bass and panfish. Most are still fishing night crawlers and chicken liver for the cat fish.
