Lake St. Clair Ice Fishing Report – First Ice
Well we had our first “good” ice this weekend and the fishermen were out in force. Most ice was 3-4 inches thick in the canals and smaller protected areas of the lake.
Crocker – Many were fishing around the Crocker launch and had success. Many of the perch caught were small and you had to dig through them to get any size. The perch were coming on beads, teardrops, ficious jigs etc. tipped with minnows.
Selfridge – There were many fishing around Selfridge in the canals and catching perch, bluegill and crappie. It was somewhat hit or miss with many small perch. Minnows were also the bait to use in this area.
Bouvier Bay – There was some decent action for many fishermen at the North end of the lake with lots of perch being caught similar to above. Size was also on the small side and some culling was required.

Lake St. Clair Perch Reports
We’ve been getting reports of perch being caught in various area around the lake. Most of the reports have been coming out around the 400 Club tower in 8-10 feet of water. We’ve also got some reports of perch coming just south of the St. Clair Light. Most of the fish coming on shiners and perch rigs. AS I said reports from all over, so try these spots first and if that doesn’t work, look for the boats. Good luck out there.
Latest Lake St. Clair Ice Fishing Report
Here’s the latest ice fishing report for Lake St. Clair. Well not much to report as the big front came through that dumped all the snow and also shut the fishing down. We have heard of some slow fishing off of the spillway. Try minnows in 6-8′ of water. Walking through all the snow can be a bit tough. The Metro area as well as the Selfridge area have seen a few fish here and there, but it’s been really slow. Look for the action to pick up this weekend as the weather stabilizes. I would expect the perch to move back in to feed. Minnows have really seemed to be the ticket this year either on a teardrop or a plain hook. Gino’s area has been hit or miss, but I’d try to head out a bit further than the bulk of people out there. Good luck and let us know how you did.
