Some Bigger Perch Starting To Pop.
Getting reports of some bigger perch being caught through the ice from south of Gino’s to Metro Beach. Spoons with beads and small jigs, try chartreuse tipped with minnows. Most fish being caught from 4′ to 6′ of water. Watch the ice. Still pretty thick in many spots, but pieces could break off and it’s melting fast. This could be the last weekend for ice fishing on the main lake as temps. will be in the 50′s in the following week. Good luck and be safe.
Still Seeing Small Perch Through The Ice
Seems like the same old Dink reports. Lots of fishermen off of Ginos reporting the same schools of small perch through the ice. Guys using minnows, wax worms, spikes, etc. on jigs of different colors. Warmer weather this week means shrinking ice. Watch the wind this week so you don’t go for an unwanted ride on the ice. Truck went through the ice in Anchor Bay this past weekend. Stay shallow to be safe. The quality (or lack of it) of fish may keep you from taking some chances. The soft water is on the way. Get your walleye jigging gear ready. It won’t be long until we’re in the Detroit River. Good luck and be safe.
Lake St. Clair Ice Fishing Perch Report for 2/13-2/14 weekend
Reports are still of smaller perch, but there are some reports coming in about some larger perch being caught. We’ve heard reports of fish being taken at Gino’s, Metro, and Selfridge. All seem to be coming in approx. 7 feet of water on swedish pimples w/minnows and teardrops. The fish seem to be coming in bunches, so you may need to be patient a bit. Watch the ice as the water level seems to be in a bit of a flux depending on the jam up in the St. Clair River.
Good Luck
